Penguin Snoire
Agent… We have chilling news! Dr DoonWaffle has created an ingenious new cooling solution for his robots… so effective in fact that they’ve become Snowbots! They’re out of control and now seek to chill with the city folk!
Your mission should you accept it:
Take down Dr. Dunewaffle’s rampaging creations and save Glasnow from Snowmaggedon! Their chill-dren are great in number, too many for a single Penguin to take down but… you’re our only agent in the vicinity. We need you to put your life on the line and defend the city long enough for everyone in the town to put their heating on and give the Snow Patrol time to arrive.
Controls:
Keyboard: WASD / ARROWS Mouse: Click and hold Touch: Touch, hold and move
The only control is movement, all the attacks are done by Jibbles!
Gameplay:
Snowbots will endlessly spawn around you and get stronger, faster and sturdier the longer you survive at set intervals.
Upon death, enemies drop XP orbs and also have a chance to drop health or extra time. Drops will be attracted towards the player once you are within range.
As you level, your max health and damage will increase incrementally.
Goal:
Your goal is to prevent both the timer and your health from reaching 0 for as long as you can. Death is inevitable, you can only delay it.
Entry Info:
This game was made for the Ludem Dare 50 Jam. This is the first game jam I’ve entered in about 10 years and due to issues with being able to focus and concentrate, the first time I’ve worked on a game in quite a while! I stumbled on Ludem Dare 50 around 12-14 hours after it started and it just got my creativity and motivation going.
For this jam, I used Construct 3 for the first time and managed to tape together this game in around 2 days between life stuff. For art, I used Aseprite and Construct 3. For Audio, I used 1BitDragon.
All assets were created by hand and somehow, I’ve managed to finish this! This has been a lot of fun and the most fulfilling thing I’ve done in a long time. I think I can fairly say I have the game dev itch back! The game might be basic but I feel it fits the them of “Delay the Inevitable” well and I hope it’s enjoyable enough for a few minutes of your time.
